Hello! I’m Emma and the owner of Ginger Rose Designs.

I’ve been a Mummy to our gorgeous Ivy for 11 months and wife to my wonderful husband for two and a half years. I’m a proud, ginger northerner living the southern life just outside of London.

As an ex professional dancer, I have always been creative. I danced for years and years, which also gave me the amazing opportunity to travel the world. When I retired from dancing I needed to find another creative outlet. Ginger Rose was it.

A Journey

Ginger Rose has definitely been a journey for me. I started out a few years ago and, to be completely honest, was a bit of a ‘Jack of all trades’ in the craft world; if you asked me to make it, I pretty much did, but I didn’t have a definite direction.

I’ve always loved drawing and adore watercolour. A couple of years ago, I received a watercolour set from my sister-in-law and with a little spare time that I had, experimented by painting my family. I posted a photo of it, and suddenly (and unexpectedly) I was receiving orders for just this (!) I was so happy – I had found my direction! It just felt right (corny, I know!)

New Direction

After a small re-brand, I was back! And I couldn’t be happier with the way things are going, I adore meeting these little families through watercolour and creating keepsakes for all sorts of occasions.

It is definitely something I am doing around our gorgeous girl at the moment in any spare time I can find, every order I receive is helping me to stay at home with her and I am so grateful for that.

In the long term, I would love it to be my full time job.

I am currently on Vacation Mode for Christmas and already can’t wait to get back to it all come the new year! I’m looking forward to bringing more ideas to life along with designing some more ‘stock’ and, hopefully, actually getting to some craft fairs!

Thank you Jo for asking me to share my story with you all. It’s been lovely learning about other makers on here and becoming part of this wonderful group of creatives!
