Hi, I’m Emma – creator of The Pretty Painter Crafts.

I’m a 25 year old new mum to my little boy Kody (8 months), who I share with my loving partner Chris. We live in Berkshire and are in the process of buying our first family home.

I love painting and drawing, and qualified from college with a diploma in Art & Design. From this I went on to work for a few different architect firms, designing everything from loft conversions to multi million pound luxury houses. I then took a career change and became a corporate receptionist, working my way up to a multi site facilities manager.

Starting my business

After I had my son, I decided to paint a plant pot for my mother as a birthday gift to say thank you for her for all of her support throughout my pregnancy and those early sleep deprived days! It was so well received that my father wanted one of his beloved Chelsea FC’s stadium. From this, the idea to start The Pretty Painter Crafts was born. I’m currently doing this in my spare time, but hope to make it my full time source of income – around the children!

I also make dreamcatchers, wooden garden ornaments and accept commissions to paint anything that the customer requires – my most recent being a set of peg wood princesses.

I love bringing the customers ideas to life – I often get sent photos of special places or memories and am asked to portray these on a plant pot. It’s a real joy to see them come to life and heartwarming to receive positive feedback that the customer loves the finished product.

The Future…

Next year I hope to create many more beautiful bespoke pots and gifts, as well as building up a stock of pre-painted pots to sell at local craft fairs.

I would love to thank Jo and the Made by Mums team for allowing me to be part of this wonderful network.
