Hello and welcome to my shop, Round the Corner. My name is Dawn and I am the face behind the business. Creativity and making beautiful things is in my blood. My Gramps was an artist too and I spent all my time filling up his sketchbooks with my drawings, aiming for that coveted spot on the fridge. My time at nursery school was the same. I spent so much time in my favourite little spot. A tucked away corner of the nursery where I painted away with the teacher often checking I was there with a "Is that you Dawn, round the corner?" Now you see where the inspiration comes from, the journey is the rest of the story. I just enjoy making things, it is my joy, my therapy. I do it regardless of a commission or project on my books and I can never see myself not doing something creative every day Over the years I have made many things for family and friends, improving my technique and skills along the way. After a few creative but still somewhat corporate jobs I realised that there was a place for my work too and if people were requesting pieces for family occasions then perhaps others would too. I originally set my shop up just as a creative outlet and to clear some room for new crafts. but eventually it became more than that and the last 12 months have been a real turning point for my little shop. A lot of my products lend themselves perfectly as gifts. Those who are impossible to buy for; the Mother in Law who is fussy but loves her Grandkids, the friend who has everything. Unique, personalised drawings are memories captured and memories made with the finished piece standing proudly on a mantel or hung on the wall. It is this little detail that makes me happy. Imagining all the reactions of the loved ones when they open their portrait that I have drawn, or their special Birthday card. You cannot buy that kind of reaction from a big shop and my returning customers value that again and again. I pride myself on creating the best quality I can offer, with the highest standard of service. It is important that the entire customer journey is a good experience. From the initial browsing my shop to receiving the finished piece, everything is done meticulously. I am proud that my designs and products sit pride of place in many peoples homes and I strive for continual growth and excellent service to match my products.
