Last week, I wrote about the basics of setting up your account. Today, we’re looking at how to optimise it. Read on for some top tips on how to boost your reach and appeal to more visitors.

To be completely honest with you, before we launched, I was frantically making little things here and there, whenever I got a tiny chance to do so (ok so like always then!) But I really wanted to ensure that every category had at least one item in it.

Fast forward to today, and each category is busting of gorgeous creations by our amazing makers. What a fabulous effort!

As one of those early adopters, we can’t thank you enough for the time and effort you’ve clearly put in to the wonderful product listings now to be found across our website.

So, now you’re all set up, let’s look at how you can maximise the reach of your Made By Mums shop.

How to make the most of your profile

Beyond setting up your account, the good news is there’s some great ways to make your Made By Mums shop presence felt. Here’s a few ideas to help you reach more of our visitors.

1. Add a shop icon

The simplest, quickest thing to do to increase your shop’s visibility. Adding a shop icon means your shop can appear on our home page’s “Featured Makers” section (assuming you have at least one live product listing set up)

How?

Click the Branding tab in your Seller Dashboard settings, upload an icon, then save. Voila!

2. Add your social media links

We’re very proud of our wonderful makers and want to share that with our site visitors. By adding your social media links to your profile, you can boost your exposure and drive more engagement and followers.

How?

To add social links to your profile, click the Social tab in your Seller Dashboard settings, and fill enter the relevant link in the boxes. The icons will show in your shop profile when you hit ‘save changes’.

Oh – Don’t forget, this can work two ways! Adding a link to your shop from your Instagram, Facebook or Twitter profile can help boost the number of people visiting your shop.

3. Optimise your shop for sharing…

When your shop is shared on social media, you can control the headline, image and description that shows up in the link, all through a few fields in your settings’ SEO tab. Go on, totally pimp your shop now FTW!

How?

Customise how your shop appears on social media links with the Title and Description fields for Facebook and Twitter, and click the Add Facebook image button to add your shop’s logo or that stunning make you’re most proud.

4. …and Google too(gle)

Another way people might find your shop is through Google – show these people some love by adding a compelling headline and description.

How?

In the SEO tab of your Seller Dashboard’s settings, add to the SEO Title and Meta Description fields.

What happens next?

With these in place, it won’t be long before you start to get noticed. And that means…. (drumroll) ORDERS! We’ll cover the basics on what to do when you make your first sale in our next post.
