Less Waiting, More Stitching! A Big Update for Pattern Buyers & Sellers
We've improved how downloadable patterns work on Made By Mums, with a faster checkout for customers, quicker access to purchases and less admin for sellers.
Did you know that there are currently 183 knitting and 60 crochet patterns on Made By Mums?
We’ve seen an uptick in interest in patterns recently, and looking at the brilliant range available from some seriously talented designers, it’s not hard to see why.
So, we’ve made some changes to help buying and selling on our platform that little bit more easy and convenient.
Read on to find out about the updates now in place.
Get your pattern without waiting
When you purchase through Made By Mums, the order takes a little time to process. We’ve now streamlined that process for downloadable patterns, so your payment is confirmed automatically.
This means we can send you your download links via email within moments of placing your order – so less waiting, more stitching!
A faster checkout process
If your basket only contains downloadable patterns, you will find our checkout is now considerably shorter, and faster to complete.
Because there’s nothing to deliver, we no longer ask you to complete a full delivery address. You’ll just need to provide the basic details required to process your payment securely, along with the email address for us to send your download to.
Note – If you add a physical handmade product to the same basket, the usual delivery details automatically return (for obvious reasons!)
We’ve tidied up the messaging around checkout too, so it’s now much clearer that your download links will be sent to you by email once your order is confirmed.
Less admin for sellers
We’ve made a few improvements behind the scenes for sellers of patterns (and other downloads too) that we think our pattern designers will love!
Most importantly, download-only orders are now handled automatically once the customer has paid. So, no more logging in to your account to mark your download sale as “shipped”. That is all taken care of automatically, so there’s absolutely nothing you need to do once your order comes in.
Less admin, who doesn’t love that!
Meanwhile, customers get their files more quickly, and pattern sellers save some time… time that can be spent shopping for yarn!
A better buying and selling experience for digital patterns
These updates also apply to the full range of downloadable products, so if you’re a pattern seller with us, your current products are all ready set up to benefit.
Physical handmade products will continue to use the existing Made By Mums order process, including the normal delivery information and checks.
These changes apply specifically when an order contains only downloadable or virtual products.
It’s a relatively small change to the marketplace, but sometimes it’s the little things that make all the difference, isn’t it?
We think this is a real ‘win-win’ for the growing number of people shopping for patterns on our platform. Customers can get started with their new pattern sooner, while sellers have less admin to deal with every time they make a digital sale.
