It’s been a whole heap of late nights, with mucho caffeine consumption, but here we are with our website ready to go. And this is our very first post. Yay!

If you’ve just become one of our first Makers, we would like to extend our very warmest welcome and thanks to you. We’re truly humbled to have you along for the ride, right from the beginning of our adventure.

So, you likely have your sparky new Maker profile all set up and ready to go. Yikes, go you!

We’ve worked hard to make your Seller Dashboard as simple and easy to use as we can, so hopefully you’ve already been able to play around and start making your shop your own.

Either way, here’s our guide to the most important things to add, as you get started.

Your Seller Dashboard

1. Adding your PayPal account

I’ll start with PayPal because, well, that’s how we send you your sales earnings, so it’s probably the most important thing, isn’t it?! Adding the email you use for PayPal is simple, and you may already have done so as part of creating your account.

If not, adding it is a cinch, and you can do so through the Payment tab in your Seller Dashboard’s settings. Simply add your address in the ‘PayPal Address’ box, hit ‘save changes’, and you’re all set.

2. Your shop details and photo

You can set your shop name and description during the account setup. These are editable any time in your Seller Dashboard; to reach them simply click the ‘Settings’ tab.

When you’ve set up your account, the first thing to add is a shop icon. Without setting the icon, your shop will not be able to appear on our home page. So as well as making your shop look great, it’s also one of the best things you can do to optimise it!

To update your shop icon, click “Branding” in your Seller Dashboard’s Settings, add an icon, then click “Save changes”.

3. Adding your first product!

With your payment details and shop front sorted out, it’s time to add your first product! We can’t wait to see what wonderful creations you’ll add, and as long as they conform to our product listing terms and conditions, you’ll find getting them added is a cinch.

From your Seller Dashboard home page, or in the Products tab, start by clicking the ‘Add Product’ button.

Basic Details

First, add the basic details about your product. This includes the name and description for your product. Once you’re done, tick the category(s) it applies to.

Images

To add a main image, click the “set featured image” button and add a photo of your product. You can also add further photos that will appear below the main picture on the product listing page by clicking “add product gallery images” (tip – add up to 4 gallery images, the more images you add, the better impression of your make you can, well, make!)

Price

Add a price for your product listing (important: be sure to include cost of UK postage in your price as all prices on our site include postage). Having a sale? Add a sale price in the ‘Sale price’ box (but remember to remove it when your sale is finished!)

Stock

Enter the amount of the item you have available to sell. Important: If you have only one, the stock quantity will drop to 0 when you make a sale, which will then remove your listing from the website. If you have another one to sell at a later date, simply update the stock quantity by editing your product listing (in your Seller Dashboard, click ‘products’, then ‘edit’).

When you’re finished, click ‘Add product’ below the form to submit your product for review. For quality control reasons, we review and approve all products before adding them for sale to our visitors. But don’t worry, we’ve very quick, and besides, we’re sure your listings will be just lovely 🙂

Just the start…

There are many more features and optimisations you can make use of to present your products in the best possible way. If you only have time to do some things for now though, these are the ones to do!

We’ll be following up this blog with a couple more that focus on some more advanced optimisation for your shop. We’ll also look closer at what happens when you make your first sale (we’ll leave the super celebration dance moves to you!) very soon, so come back shortly for more tips and guides!
