I am Susanna Biaye, the maker behind Crochet Fosbas. I’m a medical doctor by profession, a wife and mum to a toddler whose pregnancy rekindled my love in crocheting!

I learnt crochet from my Mum many years ago (I think I would have been around 8 years old then). I actually started with knitting then got into crocheting.

I made socks, beanies and baby booties, bags and even cardigans! They were all made out of my curiosity using my mum’s knitting/crochet magazines.

Many years later, when jobless, bored and pregnant, my husband suggested I take to crocheting and knitting again. That was the beginning of my new adventure!

All I can say is that it has been blissful since then.

I made my baby all his cardigans, hats, blankets and even toys (called amigurumi).

Journey so far….

Following all the items made, I got numerous orders for baby items and was so excited with the money coming in.

However, I discovered I do not fancy making an item all over again and decided to start making patterns.

Initially, I thought no one would buy my patterns, but I did it anyways 😜

I got friends (crocheters) to help “test” that is to make a sample from my patterns and check how accurate they were. Additionally, a professional tech editor is paid to also have a look at my patterns.

The funny thing is, I’m just a year into to my designing journey and all I could say is how grateful I am to everyone for their support.

Recently, I started my own crochet blog, I’m hoping to have my patterns free on this site so as to give everyone the opportunity of making my patterns!

Presently, I have nine designs already published in crochet magazines, and few more to be published over next few months.

What inspires me?

β€’ I get my inspiration from nature, I love creative designs, when I see one, I try to recreate such using yarn!

β€’ Noticing that most crochet patterns are for mothers and their daughters, I also make matching items with my son (mum and me/son)

My aspirations

I’d love to continue to design, and possibly attend a fashion show in the nearest future showcasing my crochet designs.
