Since we launched 10 months ago, we’ve been blown away by the love, support and kindness of so many in making it a success. We’ve been listening to our amazing makers and visitors to our website, and the result is the shiny new website you’re reading this on!
Our new site has been in the works since, ooh at least Christmas, and although there’s been times when it felt like it would be next Christmas by the time we were ready to re-launch, we’re very proud of our new look. We’ve had a lovely response since, with record numbers of product additions and new makers signing up – it’s gratifying to know it was all ‘worth it’!
We redesigned our website from the ground up to better showcase the amazing creations of our brilliant makers, while providing a better, easier to navigate visitor experience for those looking to buy.
Here’s a rundown of some our new and exciting features you can use right now on Made By Mums. A world of handmade wonders awaits!
Handmade Highstreet
Hoorah – all our makers shops can now be found in one place… and it’s like our very own digital crafts fair!
Visit our ‘Handmade Highstreet’ and you’ll find a full roster of makers who currently have products available on Made By Mums. It’s a great way to get acquainted with our makers, discover their stories and browse their creations, all from one place.
We have big plans for our Handmade Highstreet, so expect to see this page evolve over time.
Categories… So Many Categories
Well, subcategories technically… which we’ve been seeing in our sleep! With a table full of felt tips and scrap paper, we put our thinking caps (and the kettle) on and drafted out an exhaustive list of every possible category we could think of. Which we keep having to add to because we’re constantly outpaced by the creativity of our makers!
Our new categories allow searchers to zero in on what they’re looking for like never before. We hope you find it useful! 🙂
All New Navigation
We’ve completely overhauled our menu system to make it much easier to browse categories, reach pages, and for makers, manage your shop. We’re particularly pleased with our new mobile menu, which allows you to access over 100 categories from in a maximum of just 3 taps.
So whatever you’re looking for, find it fast through our new menus!
Search From Anywhere
One of biggest requests we’ve had since day 1 was a more intuitive search function. Although you could previously search from product pages, we understood that our visitors were struggling to search and find what they were looking for.
We added a search box to the header of every page, allowing a fast, simple and intuitive way to filter and find products by keyword. We plan to expand our search to incorporate categories, sellers and topics in future. Give it a try – discover new items and find what you’re looking for instantly!
Seller Star Ratings
To help our visitors with their buying choices, we’ve introduced ratings for our sellers. The ratings are the average of all ratings received by the maker across all their products. For our customers, it’s a great way to reassure on quality pre-purchase, and a simple way to send some love back to their maker if they like what they’ve bought!
Our new seller star ratings are rolling out on our maker shop pages now (and elsewhere soon, watch this space!)
Product Breadcrumb Navigation
We’ve introduced a breadcrumb style navigation on all of our product pages, enabling visitors to check out similar products with a single tap or click. We hope this makes it much easier and faster to check out similar products to help you secure that perfect gift!

New colours, brand and layout
If you follow us on social media, you’ll likely be familiar with our all new colours and look. We’re so pleased to finally bring our website in line with this! The website has been designed with clear and neutral feel to add extra focus to our makers listings and truly make them ‘pop’. With so many beautiful handmade creations now available – our job is to step aside and let you browse to your heart’s content!
Although this was a major change to our website, really this is just the latest evolution of our burgeoning platform. We’re so encouraged by the friendly community of makers that’s emerging – and we want to do even more to bring that sense of community together!
We’ve got so many ideas and can’t wait to continue working to bring these to our site, to better serve our makers and help bring handmade smiles to everyone who visits us.
